All Rol-Seal® motors can be equipped with a rear-mounted, normally-on, wet friction disc brake.
- Prevents creep under high static loads caused by system leakage
- Provides positive locking of the motor shaft when required
- Ideal for applications requiring secure load holding

Brake System Overview – Axial Vane
Optional Brake Feature – Axial Vane Motor
The Von Ruden axial vane motor offers an optional rear-mounted, normally-on, wet friction disc brake.
- Prevents creep under high static loads caused by system leakage
- Provides positive locking of the motor shaft when required
- Designed for applications requiring secure load holding
Performance & Design Considerations
- Brake torque capacity must not exceed the torque capacity of the driven device
- Intended for holding applications where stability and safety are critical
Case Drain Requirements
- Equipped with a case drain connection
- Drain line must return flow to reservoir
- Maximum surge pressure: 25 PSI
- Optional seals available for case drain pressures up to 250 PSI

- Oil Volume for Release: 0.6 in³
- Holding capacities based on:
- No back pressure in release line
- Use of mineral-based hydraulic oil
- For high holding torque applications, factory consultation is recommended
