The State of Manufacturing® Survey has been used by manufacturing companies throughout Minnesota for the past six years. More than 400 manufacturing executives and leaders from the state have contributed to this in-depth survey which includes opinions and perceptions about the Minnesota manufacturing industry.

This survey, conducted by President Rob Autry of Meeting Street Research, is sponsored by Enterprise Minnesota and other partners. It gives a significant view in which to understand the current landscape of manufacturing in the state. The survey also provides stakeholders, industry leaders, and executives the tools necessary to interpret the bigger picture. It includes issues facing the industry, current challenges, and even opportunities that manufacturing companies in Minnesota can expect to see.

State and federal policymakers, business leaders, economic development officials, and educators have been better able to understand trends and outlooks thanks to this survey. This all encompassing view of manufacturing in Minnesota gives everyone in the industry an opportunity to learn from others and to understand key statistical factors impacting the industry. It includes everything from the current economy to any major factor which can impact a company’s ability to conduct business.

This year the survey discusses the higher level of confidence many companies feel about the economy since the recession hit in 2009. Other important topics covered include the rising cost of health care, government regulations and policies, and the difficulties related to finding and retaining qualified workers.

2015 marks the first year 15 focus groups revealed their views on the economy and other factors contributing to the success and demands of manufacturing in Minnesota. These focus groups included executives, managers, and other leaders in the industry. Brandon Anderson, President of Von Ruden was among the panelists at the 2015 The State of Manufacturing® Survey Release Event on May 13, 2015. Taking part in such an important event ensures that Von Ruden is prepared to lead the charge as Minnesota’s manufacturing sector continues to grow and change.
